It’s the most wonderful time of the year! I really do love the holiday season and all (well most) that comes with it. But there are some things about it that can add a bit of stress so I’m here to share exactly how I make the most out of the season.
It’s all about taking the time to do what makes me happy and worry less about the rest of the things that don’t. There are so many things that happen during this time of year and we try our best to cram it all in one month. That’s no easy task y’all! If entertaining isn’t your thing don’t feel obligated to do it. Enjoy going to other people’s parties and maybe ask a friend if you can co-host so you don’t have all the pressure of hosting. If traveling overwhelms you, suggest an alternative to your family and see what they think. Wiley and I got pretty burned out on going home for Thanksgiving and Christmas so last year we suggested that the whole family take a mini vacation that was a bit closer to home. We did and it was great.
If you are the type that feels like all health rules get thrown out the window this time of year, I’m here to tell you that they shouldn’t. It is just as easy to keep up with your regular health regime as it is to throw it away. Try not to go to all of the parties and munch on the the junk food because “it’s the holidays”. Even if you don’t have time to work out as much as you normally do, make time to do it a few days a week. And just as important, get some good quality rest. Turning off your healthy mindset will just set you back when the season is over and you will feel worse about the whole thing. There are plenty of things that you can do to keep yourself healthy throughout this busy time of year.
If I can only give you one piece of advice for the season it would be not to stress. Stress reeks havoc on your body and wears on you. I know that is easier said than done but it really isn’t worth it. Make time to take care of you and your family and do the things that make you happy, that’s really what it’s all about.
