This week we returned home from the most wonderful vacation. Wiley and I took our last trip with just the two of us, before sweet baby Jay arrives, and it was perfect. We knew we wanted to be at the beach where we could just relax and enjoy each other and that is exactly what we did! Since moving to Nashville, we have learned where the closest beaches are and 30a along the gulf coast is the quickest trip. We hopped in the car and headed down to Seaside Beach.
We have stayed up and down 30a over the past couple of years but this was our first time staying in Seaside and I must say, it was a treat! We were steps away from the beach, spent our days staring at the water and our nights just walking around talking about life. Seaside is a small town along 30a (if you’re not familiar that’s just the main road that runs along the beach) that is full of beautiful beach houses, local restaurants and some of the most charming side walks you’ve ever stepped foot on. We were hosted by the Cottage Rental Agency, who were amazing, and stayed in the “Love Me Tender, Love Me True” cottage. It was a two story spot just one row back from the beach. We loved waking up to the sun, cooking our own breakfast and taking the morning slow. After a couple of hours on the beach, we walked around to find some lunch and really enjoyed fish tacos at Bud and Alley’s Taco Bar. The rest of the day was spent with our toes in the sand, soaking up the sun.
Since we stayed with the Cottage Rental Agency, we had access to three pools, the fitness center (which we didn’t use- it’s vacation right?), and two bikes so there was plenty to do. Wiley and I both said that we wanted this trip to be all about relaxing because when we typically travel, we are go-go-go. To us, there are few things better than sitting on the beach right beside each other and just taking it all in. Letting go of all of the stressors and allowing peace to fill us up is just what we needed!
On our last day, we ventured down 30a to walk around Alys and Rosemary Beach. We always really enjoy our strolls through both of these beautiful places and this time was no exception. For some reason, we always make some of our most fond memories at the beach. We look back and think about how we felt, what we talked about, what we ate and how we spent our time and those memories will always be our favorite. When I think about the fact that we have taken our last trip as a family of two, I get really excited about the future and all that is to come. These are the days that I am so grateful for and always hope to remember.
