Wow! Sometimes we have to sit back and take a second to settle down because life circles around us so fast that we lose our breath. That’s been happening to me over the past couple of weeks. I’m sorry that I’ve been MIA but I’m excited to be right here writing again. Although, we strive to be as happy and healthy as possible, sometimes things can overwhelm us and become down right stressful! How do we work through that?
For me, it’s about figuring out what is exceptionally important in life and then ensuring that those things are the most cared for. Then, I know that I have found my happy place and can tend to everything else with a confident, strong mind.
Once my mind is right, it’s time to work on my body! Recently, I went a couple of weeks without exercising, and for lack of better words, I felt gross! Heart health is just as important as mental and emotional health and that’s just what I was missing. I was neglecting my physical heart and that’s never a good thing. I’m back on track and grabbing life by the horns! So what are the best ways to sweat? In my opinion, there isn’t one just so long as you’re doing it! In the same way that we put food into our bodies to nourish it, we need to release nutrients through sweat.
I adore the sunshine! So, naturally, my favorite place to exercise is outside. If it’s warm, I wake up and go outside to do a 40 minute session of HIIT training. This is my favorite way to sweat because I can get a lot done in a short amount of time AND it’s super high energy, which keeps me occupied. Every now and then Wiley and I go running together. We’ll go for about 3 or 4 miles and even though he’s a little faster than me, that makes the workout even better on my end!
Since moving to Tennessee five years ago, we have really enjoyed hiking. I wouldn’t necessarily consider this an excellent workout unless you’re climbing up a mountain for a couple of hours but it is a really good way to exercise and increase your heart rate a bit. If you do go hiking, maybe try to find some spots along the trail where you can do elevated pushups or lunges, these will certainly increase the workout!
