If someone told me that I could only eat one food for the rest of my life, I would probably pick smoothie bowls. They are everything that’s special and more. I used to work with a company that taught me the imporatance of chewing your food, as opposed to just drinking it, like you would a juice or a smoothie. When you chew, you release and enzyme in your saliva that starts your digestion process and without it, your body does not process the nutriets as well.
Besides the fact that I can pile just about anything and everything into a smoothie bowl, the fact that you can “eat” them, makes them my favorite! I always keep frozen berries and frozen sliced bananas in my freezer, which are two great ingredients for a smoothie bowl. This one is probably one of my top picks besides an acai bowl and I think you’ll like it!
1 heaping cup frozen blueberries
1 frozen banana, sliced
1 tbsp honey
1 tbsp chia seeds
1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk + more if needed
Sliced banana, almond butter, shredded coconut, hemp seeds, chia seeds.
Blend all the smoothie ingredients in your blender until thick and creamy. If the mixture is too thick, add more milk, 1 tbsp at a time.
Pour into a bowl and sprinkle with the toppings.
