Ultimate Green Smoothie

I have really loved seeing how many people are kick starting their health in 2017. I know so many people who are doing Whole30 and clean eating diets and I think it is great! There are few things better than feeling really really good about your body. There is no better time than now to say “out with the old and in with the new.” If you haven’t jumped on the health train yet but have been wanting to do it, now is the time. I will be happy to help guide you along the way.

If you have been following along with A Happy Healthy Heart for a while you probably know that I haven’t always eaten health foods. I grew up being a very picky eater who only cared to eat basic, processed foods. I had always had an interest in fitness but never realized the effect that fueling my body with good food would have. So after 24 years of eating all the wrong things, I decided to try eating all the right things. My journey to eating health food didn’t happen over night and wasn’t easy. I thought a lot of things didn’t taste good at first but convinced myself that I needed to eat them so that I could be nourished. Fast forward to today, my whole life has been turned around by food and I have never looked back.

A great place to start is with smoothies. Smoothies and smoothie bowls can be jam packed with all kinds of nutrients and are a quick and easy way to boost your nutrition intake. This is my favorite green smoothie recipe- it’s tastes delicious, it’s simple, and it is full of good stuff! I don’t recommend filling your whole day with smoothies but if you are in a pinch, they are the way to go.  Try this Ultimate Green Smoothie, I promise you won’t regret it!

Ultimate Green Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsweetened coconut milk
  • ½ cup chopped kale
  • ½ cup spinach
  • ½ cup frozen broccoli
  • ¼ cup frozen pineapple
  • ½ cup frozen banana pieces
  • 1 tbsp almond butter
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 tbsp ground flax seeds
  • optional: Amazing Grass Protein Powder

Instructions

  1. Start by pouring milk in the blender first, followed by remaining ingredients.
  2. Blend until smooth and creamy. If additional milk is needed to blend, add ¼ cup at a time until perfect consistency is reached.
  3. Optional: Top is berries and granola.
